Dear brothers, especially our young people, today we are going to talk about a biblical command that brings blessings: Children who respect and obey their parents will do well.

We know that you all want to please Jehovah, and we want to encourage you to see how obedience to parents not only honors God, but also protects you and ensures a happy future. We will use God's Word to show how obeying is a practical solution that benefits us now and in the future.

Think about John's example. Two girls invited him to run across a dangerous highway, mocking him for hesitating. But John replied: “I'm sorry, I have to obey my mother.” Minutes later, from a safe overpass, he watched as a car hit the girls, with tragic consequences. John's mother had warned him based on her experience, because she knew of a similar accident years before.

This example shows that obeying parents can protect us, because they have more experience and want our good. Please, let's read the first biblical text: Proverbs 1:8, 9. We will read it together: "Listen, my son, to the discipline of your father and do not abandon the teachings of your mother. 9 They are a beautiful crown for your head and a fine ornament for your neck."

What a wonderful reminder that obedience not only protects us, but also beautifies us in the eyes of God!

Young people, remember when your parents told you: “Don't touch the fire, you'll get burned” or “Look both ways before crossing.” Those warnings were out of love, to protect them. Disobeying can have serious consequences, but obeying is “just,” as the Bible says, and prepares us for eternal life.

When we obey our parents in things that are in harmony with God's laws, we also obey Jehovah. And if someone asks you to do something bad, such as lying or stealing, remember that we must obey God as ruler rather than men.

Let's read our second text: Ephesians 6:1-3. It says: "Children, be obedient to your parents in union with the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother.” That is the first command accompanied by a promise: 3 “So that it may go well with you and that you may remain on the earth for a long time.”

What an encouraging promise! Obeying not only protects us now, but ensures us a place in God's new world, where we will live forever in paradise.

Young man, when you obey your parents, you not only make them happy, but you also make Jehovah happy. The Bible says in Isaiah 48:18 that God teaches us so that you may benefit yourself. Obedience strengthens the family, creates a loving home, and gives them confidence to face challenges.

Think of Jesus. He always did what pleased his heavenly Father and obeyed his earthly parents, Joseph and Mary. As a result, he enjoyed Jehovah’s blessing and protection.

Even when parental discipline seems difficult, it is an act of love. Hebrews 12:11 says, "It is true that no discipline is pleasant at the moment, but hurts. But later it produces in those who have been trained by it the peaceful fruit of righteousness." Young people, thank your parents for correcting you, for this prepares you to be faithful servants of Jehovah.

Dear young people, we know that you want to please Jehovah, and we encourage you to obey your parents with joy. By doing so, they honor God, protect themselves from danger, and prepare for eternal life in paradise.

Follow the example of Jesus, trust that your parents' discipline is out of love, and you will see how Jehovah blesses you. As Ephesians 6:3 says, “It will be well with you and you will remain on the earth for a long time.” What a beautiful hope. Let us continue to strive to obey, knowing that Jehovah will reward us abundantly.
