Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025
Friday, September 5, 2025
Jehovah upholds all who are about to fall and lifts up all who are bowed down (Ps. 145:14).
The sad reality is that even if we have all the motivation in the world, obstacles can arise in our path. For example, an “unforeseen event” could rob us of the time we need to dedicate to a goal we have (Eccl. 9:11). Or we could have a problem that discourages us and saps our strength (Prov. 24:10).
Furthermore, because we are imperfect, we make mistakes that may distance us from our goal (Rom. 7:23). Or perhaps we are simply tired (Matt. 26:43). What can help us move forward or overcome a bad day? Remember that a step backward is not a defeat.
The Bible says we're likely to experience many challenges. But it also tells us that we can keep going and achieve our goal. Yes, when we keep going despite challenges, we show Jehovah that we want to please him. Can you imagine Jehovah's big smile as he watches you strive to achieve your goal?
What can obstacles teach us?
View obstacles as opportunities to learn. Analyze the situation and ask yourself, “What could I change so that no obstacle will ever stop me again?” (Prov. 27:12). On the other hand, if we haven’t been able to reach our goal despite our efforts, isn’t it the goal itself that needs to be changed? To find out if this is true for you, consider whether what you set out to do is truly reasonable for you. Jehovah won’t think you have failed for not reaching a goal that was beyond your reach. (2 Cor. 8:12)
Why should we remember what we have already achieved?
Keep in mind what you have already accomplished. The Bible says that “God is not unjust, nor does he forget your works” (Heb. 6:10). So don’t forget them either. Think about the goals you have already achieved, such as becoming Jehovah’s friend, preaching, or being baptized. The spiritual objectives you accomplished in the past show that you can continue to progress and accomplish what you have set out to do now. (Phil. 3:16)
What should you do as you move toward your goal?
With Jehovah's help, you can reach your goal, just like the sailor who reaches his destination and is happy. Many sailors also enjoy the journey. You too can enjoy moving toward your goal if you notice how Jehovah helps and blesses you along the way. (2 Cor. 4:7) If you don't give up, even greater blessings await you. (Gal. 6:9)
