Start Conversations (4 min.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Use one of the “Biblical Truths We Love to Teach” from Appendix A of the booklet A Labor of Love to talk with someone who is worried about their financial situation (LMD lesson 4 point 4).

Setting: The publisher meets with an acquaintance who expresses his concern about his financial situation and fears he won't be able to meet his basic needs. In this context, the publisher offers comfort by sharing the promises of the Bible and explaining how the Kingdom of God will bring lasting solutions to human problems.

Publisher: Hi [name], how are you? I can tell you're a little worried. Is everything okay?

Assistant: Hi, [name]. Yes, I'm fine. I'm just a little worried about the financial situation. I'm afraid I won't be able to cover my basic needs. I've been thinking a lot about the future, and I don't know what's going to happen.

Publisher: I understand how you feel. Financial uncertainty can be very stressful. However, I want to share with you something I've learned from the Bible that might help you feel more secure. Would you like to listen?

Assistant: Yes, please. I'd like to hear more about what you're saying.

Publisher: Very soon, under God's Kingdom, there will be no more hunger, poverty, or suffering. The Bible says that God has a purpose for us and that we can trust him.

Assistant: What is the Kingdom of God?

Publisher: The Kingdom of God is a real government in heaven that will soon replace all human governments. The Bible says that God is our Father and that he loves us. We can trust him.

Assistant: That sounds interesting, but how can that be possible? The situation seems very serious.

Publisher: The Kingdom of God is the only solution to humanity's problems. Note what Isaiah 65:21-23 says:

“They will build houses and live in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They will not build houses for others to live in, nor will they plant vineyards for others to eat. For the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, and my chosen ones will enjoy the fruit of their labor to the full. 23 They will not labor in vain or bring children into the world to grieve, for they are the offspring of those whom the Lord has blessed, they and their descendants.”

As you noticed, the text says that in the future, people will be able to live in peace and prosperity. They will be able to build their homes and work without problems. It will be a world without suffering or pain. The Bible teaches us that we can have hope in the future and that God will help us overcome the challenges we face.

Assistant: That sounds very promising.

Publisher: The Bible is a source of wisdom and guidance for us. We can read and study it to learn more about the Kingdom of God and its purpose for us. How about we continue the conversation tomorrow?

Assistant: Sure, that's fine with me.
