If we pay attention to Jehovah, things will go well for us (10 mins.)

We live in a world where we are constantly told what to do, what decisions to make, and what to prioritize in our lives. Whether through social media, education, our work environment, or even our own emotions, there are attempts to steer our choices. But an important question arises: Who should we listen to? The Bible gives us a clear and loving answer: If we pay attention to Jehovah, we will prosper.

Jehovah teaches his servants (Is 48:17; it “Teacher, teaching” par. 2).

Jehovah is not a distant or silent God. He is, as the Bible calls him, the Magnificent Instructor. From ancient times he has taught his servants how to live, how to make right choices, and how to draw close to him.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 48:17

“This is what Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the one who teaches you for your own good, the one who guides you in the way you should go.”

For example, we can learn much about Jehovah through creation. Nature itself teaches us that there is a wise and powerful God. As Job 12:7-9 says, the animals, the earth, and the sea teach us about his greatness. Everything we see reflects order, purpose, and wisdom.

But Jehovah has not limited himself to teaching through creation. He has also given clear instructions through his Word, the Bible. In it we find his laws, his principles, and his way of thinking. Texts such as 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 remind us that the Scriptures are useful for teaching and guiding us in life.

Furthermore, Jehovah uses his holy spirit as a teacher. Jesus said at John 14:26 that the holy spirit would help us to remember and understand divine teachings. This shows how much Jehovah wants us to learn.

So we must remember that we are not alone or lost. We have the best Teacher there is, ready to guide us with love and patience.

We must choose to pay attention to Jehovah (Is 48:18a; ijwbq article 44 pars. 2, 3).

Now, although Jehovah teaches us, there is something fundamental that we cannot overlook: we must choose to listen to him.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 48:18a

"If only you would pay attention to my commandments!"

The expression "If only..." does not convey the feeling of a harsh ruler, but that of a loving father who wants the best for his children, who knows what is good for them and sincerely wishes that they make the best decisions.

Therefore, paying attention to Jehovah is not just about hearing his counsel, but about applying it in our daily lives. It means asking ourselves, “What does Jehovah want me to do in this situation?” and then acting accordingly.

God created us in his image, as Genesis 1:26 says. That means we don't act solely on instinct, like animals. We have the capacity to reason, to love, to do what is right… and we also have free will.

This means that our future largely depends on our decisions. Jehovah himself invites us to choose wisely. At Deuteronomy 30:19, 20 he tells us: “Choose life . . . by listening to his voice.”

Let's think about this: Jehovah could force us to obey him, but he doesn't. Instead, he lovingly guides us and lets us decide. That shows how much he values ​​us.

However, that freedom also comes with responsibility. Every day we make decisions: what to think, what to do, whom to listen to. And in each of those decisions we show whether we truly want to pay attention to Jehovah or not.

Our peace will become “like a river,” and our justice, “like the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:18b; lv 199 par. 8).

What happens when we decide to pay attention to Jehovah? He promises wonderful blessings.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 48:18b

“Then your peace would be like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”

First, Jehovah promises us that our peace will be “like a river.” What does that mean?

A river flows steadily, calmly, and abundantly. It is not fleeting or unstable. That is the peace that Jehovah offers: a deep tranquility that does not depend on circumstances. Even in the midst of trouble, we can feel secure because we know we are doing what is right and we have Jehovah's support.

The second promise is that our righteousness will be “like the waves of the sea.” Waves never stop reaching the shore; they are constant, one after another. This teaches us that if we follow Jehovah’s principles, our righteousness will be firm and lasting.

Furthermore, Psalm 55:22 assures us that Jehovah will never allow the righteous to fail. This does not mean that we will not have problems, but that he will sustain us and help us to overcome them.

These promises strengthen our confidence. They show us that obeying Jehovah always brings good results, both now and in the future.

Brothers and sisters, Jehovah is the best Teacher we could ever have. He teaches us through his creation, his Word, and his spirit. But it is up to us to decide whether we pay attention to him or not.

If we choose to listen to him and obey him, he assures us of something very valuable: a constant peace like a river and a just and firm life like the waves of the sea.

Therefore, let us make a conscious effort each day to listen to Jehovah’s voice and apply his teachings. Let us be confident that if we do, “we will prosper,” today and always.
